SARK V4.0.0 s200IP Reset
Sometimes it is necessary to reset a SARK200 back to its default IP setting (DHCP). From release 4.0.0-129 this can be done using a USB stick as follows;
Preparing a SARK reset USB stick
- Use a disk manager (e.g. FDISK, GPARTED) to label a USB stick as S200UTILS
- Create a folder in the root of the USB stick and call it "SARK"
- Create a file in the SARK folder called "MAC"
- The MAC file should contain a single line with the mac address of the SARK in uppercase. Like this
F0:AD:4E:01:4B:C9
This MAC address MUST correspond with the mac address of eth0 network port of the SARK box you wish to reset.
- To reset the network to DHCP add an empty file in the SARK folder called RESETDHCP
Your SARK folder should now look like this;
ls /media/S200UTILS/SARK/ MAC RESETDHCP
Running the USB stick reset
- Power up the SARK and wait a few minutes to allow it to come up and settle.
- Insert the USB stick into the USB port on the SARK
- Wait a few seconds
- The SARK will reboot
- Once the reboot has finsihed, remove the USB stick and insert it into a PC or laptop
- There will be a file in the SARK folder called NETWORK which will contain details of the new IP address of your SARK box.
